| As a child, I was curious about how and why objects worked. I enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together with precision. I learned carpentry from watching and working with my father on various projects. Everything I know about carpentry I learned from him. I also enjoyed decorating my room, often to my mother's dismay. While in college, I was frequently approached by friends seeking decorating advice for their dorm rooms. After graduation, I started an arts and crafts business called LaRue Designs, through which I sold custom gift baskets and seasonal crafts. This endeavor helped me earn extra cash until I found a full-time job. I started NLB Interiors, LLC in 2005 as a part-time business, and in 2007 I decided to pursue my passion for design full time. I earned a Graduate Certificate in Business & Management from The Johns Hopkins University, a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management & Administration from Hood College, and studied Interior Design at The Community College of Baltimore County. I'm also an Accredited Staging Professional® (ASP®) and a member of the International Association of Home Staging Professionals (IAHSP®). Having earned the only nationally accredited designation for home stagers means that I abide by a strict code of ethics, and continuously educate myself about the industry. I structured this business to appeal to a variety of clients by offering an a-la-carte menu of services to meet the needs of all budgets, design requirements, and do-it-yourself homeowners. In summary, I live by the words of a quote from the late author and motivational speaker Leo Buscaglia, which says ”Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God.” I want my life to mean something. I have a duty to share my talent with the community and with the people whom I have the privilege to meet during my lifetime. NLB Interiors serves Prince George's County Maryland. |
